Just back from a quick trip to LA for a VH1 Classic shoot with Poison to cover their upcoming new all covers CD. The guys in the band are all getting along great and are truly good people. CC is in great shape, very healthy, and about to become a Dad for the first time! Heard some of the new music the guys are doing and it sounded very cool. Don Was is once again producing and it was cool to meet and talk with him as well. The interview will air in a few months once the CD is done and it looks like a Poison tour is in the works for this Summer. When the interview airs most of the talk was about the fight on stage, and of course what they are doing now. Also had the chance to talk with Slash for a while as VR is doing their new CD at the same studio. Slash mentioned that he liked my Turntable’s segments on VH1 Classic, which was cool to hear (by the way, shooting more of those next week with my bud Jim Breuer). Heard some of the new VR through the studio door and it sounded killer! I thought the first album was OK, but Slash said this one is much better, and it sounded like it! I’ll have some photos from the Poison interview posted soon.

Tuesday night I hung in LA with CC and Bobby from Poison, James Lomenzo (now of Megadeth) and Chris Jericho at the famous Rainbow in Hollywood. James is excited for the new Megadeth CD and upcoming tour with Heaven & Hell. CJ will be back in NYC soon and we will do a metal summit show for sure. Chris is working on several projects and it was good to see him as well. Fun night and thanks to Bobby for picking up the tab!

I landed from LA late Thursday night and my heart dropped when Snake Sabo called me to tell me he heard that Ace Frehley had passed away. I called Ace right away and was never so happy to hear him answer the phone! How this stuff starts I’ll never know? Ace is fine and very focused on a new CD at the moment. He has never been more healthy. Ironically, as I told Ace about this rumour, he told me he had just come from a wake, but it was not his thank God!

The G&R album does not look like it’s coming out now on the Axl announced date of March 6th (is anyone really surprised?). Bumblefoot was on my XM show last Monday and he said he does play on the CD and it is close, but could not talk in detail about it. Also, bummer to hear the VH thing fell apart for now (again, surprised?). Hope this will happen and with the original members. There is some talk that Roth insisted that Michael Anthony is part of it, which I get. Not only does it balance the power a bit, but Mike sings so many of the high parts in the songs and anchors the band. Nothing against Wolfie, but he has to be there if/when this happens in my opinion.
